Workshops for teachers

Workshop No. 1:

The Micro:bit workshops will be held on two dates: 24.01.2025 and 20.02.2025 at the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University of Technology (75 Koszykowa Street, 00-168 Warsaw) in room 225C. The workshops are dedicated to primary school science teachers, during which they will familiarize themselves with the BBC Mirco:bit board and prepared interdisciplinary IoT projects, which they will be able to implement in classes or extracurricular activities in their schools.

The BBC Micro:bit is a small module that was developed by the BBC to encourage the youngest to learn electronics and programming. The Micro:bit board can be programmed in a graphical editor such as Scratch, which allows you to familiarize yourself with the concept of programming in an easy and accessible way. During the workshops, we will use the graphical editor MakeCode and make a number of interesting and simple projects that will help inspire children to learn science, e.g. we will make a pedometer similar to the one we have in smart watches.

Workshop objectives:

  • familiarizing teachers with the concept of the Internet of Things,
  • familiarizing teachers with the methodology of teaching IoT in primary schools,
  • developing technical skills (electronics and programming) using the BBC Micro:bit board,
  • presenting the results of the IoT4schools project to participants, in particular with prepared educational materials for teachers, students and IoT projects that can be done with students in classes.

The workshops are free and conducted in Polish. Anyone can sign up for the workshops and no preliminary skills are required.
